Our Story
West began with a simple idea: build well, treat people well, and strengthen the communities we call home. What started as a small, family-driven construction operation in the mid-1990s has grown into one of Michigan’s most trusted names in development—rooted in craftsmanship, elevated by experience, and defined by a deep belief in possibility.
Our earliest years were hands-on and humble. The team took on small residential projects, refining their skills one home at a time, learning every trade, and building a reputation for honesty, quality, and follow-through. As word spread and capabilities expanded, the work did too. Single-family homes evolved into multi-family communities. Neighborhood revitalizations became full-scale developments. Individual renovations grew into landmark transformations.
By the 2000s, West was already becoming something bigger than a construction company. We stepped into commercial work, historic preservation, affordable housing, and mixed-use development—all with the same intention: to create places where people could live, gather, and thrive. This period marked the beginning of West’s role as both builder and developer, bringing visions to life from concept through completion.
Our team’s commitment to revitalizing historic assets set us apart. Projects like Lafayette Place Lofts and the restoration of the Flagstar Strand Theatre helped ignite new energy in Pontiac’s downtown. These adaptive-reuse efforts reaffirmed something we’ve always believed: old places have soul, and when preserved with respect, they can become powerful anchors for the future.
As the scale and sophistication of our work grew, so did our purpose. We invested in sustainable building practices, achieving national recognition for energy-efficient and environmentally responsible design. We expanded into multi-layered financing, tax credit development, and complex urban revitalization initiatives. Our team grew, our expertise deepened, and our role in shaping communities broadened.
After nearly 30 years, it became clear that our identity had outgrown our original name. What began as West Construction Services had evolved into a multidisciplinary development company—one that designs, builds, manages, preserves, and imagines. Our work was no longer defined solely by construction, but by the full arc of what it means to bring new communities to life.
And so, a new chapter began.
